Across the Country in an RV?

Have you considered setting out to see America by way of recreational vehicle? Have you considered how much this will cost you in fuel? Have you considered that more and more people are forgoing their recreational vehicle trips this year due to the $3.00 per gallon costs? With fewer RVs on the road you may find a fairly easy time finding an RV park to go to right? Wrong, as more people are going to an RV park and staying for a month instead of a week or a few days to save on the fuel. Makes sense right?

Sure it does and additionally consider that crossing the country by RV will run in the neighborhood of $1800 in fuel one way. No wonder the Independent Truck Drivers are becoming a thing of the past. So, round trip without adding in any sight seeing will run $3600 and you better plan on $4,000 if you want to do anything but a straight shot.

Much of the older recreational vehicle crowd are on fixed incomes and therefore they cannot really afford to pay those rates and they seem to be adapting by traveling a lot less and parking more of the time. That is really a shame because so many of them really just want to see this great nation in their retirement and I think that is a noble cause and worthy goal for them. Consider all this in 2006.
